Jane trained as a registered nurse in the UK, where she worked as an accident and emergency RN until the desire for new experiences brought her to Australia in 1986.

Since then Jane has gained extensive experience in spinal cord injury nursing care and rehabilitation across a variety of settings. An initial 5 years working as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in acute care at the Royal North Shore Hospital Spinal Unit was followed by 10 years as a community outreach Nurse Advisor with ParaQuad NSW. Following this Jane took up a position as a Generalist Community Nurse in the Western Sydney area before gaining the senior nursing position of Clinical Nursing Consultant at the Moorong Spinal Rehabilitation Unit where she remained for the next 3 years.

Prior to commencing employment with Lighthouse Jane was managing her own home care service provider organization where she was involved in recruitment, supervision and training of nursing care staff.

Jane has specialist skills in nursing assessment, discharge planning, community rehabilitation and resettlement and the management of neurogenic bladder and bowel. Jane also has a unique experience as a practitioner as she has the lived experience of living with a person with a spinal cord injury for many years.
