Megan Bailey

Case Manager

Meet Megan

Can you tell us about your background and qualifications?

Since graduating in 2012, I have pursued my career in acute surgical nursing, managing complex patient presentations across the perioperative and postoperative continuum.

I have delivered high-acuity care to patients with multiple comorbidities, significant physiological instability, and heightened psychosocial needs.

Along with complex care coordination, I oversaw blood and blood products, facilitated and educated student nurses, and was responsible for the Continuing Care Coordinator role for a period of time.

What led you to pursue a career in disability healthcare?

My commitment to the disability sector comes from firsthand experience navigating the NDIS for two of my own children. Navigating the system personally showed me the impact of timely, compassionate care and strong advocacy.

I have also gained experience at AYAH Hospital in Manly, supporting young adults and families living with permanent disabilities.

I strongly believe that small actions can create big outcomes.

What areas of healthcare are you most passionate about?

I am most passionate about surgical care with lifelong impacts for both children and adults. I find it incredibly rewarding to support people through complex health challenges, knowing the care I provide can make a lasting difference in their lives.

Small interventions can have a big impact, and being part of that journey is what motivates me every day.

What skills and expertise do you bring to your role?

Along with firsthand experience and insight into neurodiversity from my own children living with ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder, I bring a strong foundation in acute surgical nursing and the care of patients with complex and chronic disabilities.

I have extensive experience in head and neck surgery, colorectal surgery, and upper gastrointestinal surgery.

Additionally, I have significant experience supporting young adults with lifelong disabilities, focusing on long-term outcomes, transitions, and person-centred care.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I live along the beautiful Northern Beaches, where it’s easy to pop down to the beach and enjoy the view.

Outside of work, I keep busy with my three young children, splitting my time between their schedules of dance and soccer — along with plenty of coffee to keep me going!
