My original career was primarily as a town planner, now i am a support coordinator working with the NDIS. After taking time off for a family caring role, I decided to obtain qualifications and employment to reflect my change of focus.
For the majority of the past 2 years i have worked in the disability sector. Firstly, I have been a fulltime Support Coordinator (6 months) at Ark Support Coordination, and then part time (3 days/week-10 months) as Support Coordinator (South) for an NDIS registered provider called Interchange at Myaree office. Currently, i am a part time (3 days/week) Support Coordinator for an NDIS registered Support Coordination provider called Empowering Abilities Together (Office based at Ellenbrook).
In the second half of 2020 i began volunteer work with Spectrum Space (formerly Autism West) as part of my practical placement to obtain a Cert III in Individual Support Disability. I provided support during social outings for two separate groups of young people aged between 18-21. I also organised activities under the direction of the team leader and attended group excursions.
