Nitin

NDIS Support Coordinator

Nitin is an experienced Occupational Therapist (OT) who is part of the Lighthouse Medico-Legal & Life Care Planning team. He believes in putting people and families at the centre and takes a holistic approach, learning about the life experiences, stories, and goals that are important to the individual to function in their day-to-day life.

Nitin graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor of Health Science and a Masters of Occupational Therapy. He has been practicing as a therapist for 10 years, with 5 of them within the NDIS. He has worked across tertiary acute hospitals, rehab hospitals, and within the community, including experience in virtual care and telehealth.

His experience at Hornsby and Blacktown Hospital covered all wards, including neurology, oncology, and geriatrics. He then joined an inpatient and outpatient rehab hospital that supported a geriatric population, post-op surgery, and complex neurological conditions ranging from 1 to 6-month stays. This role focused on building independence and functional capacity to safely return back to the home and community.

Nitin’s most recent experience over the last 5 years in the NDIS has been working at a community clinic with a multidisciplinary team to assist young paediatric clients to young adults to build functional goals, developmental milestones, and independence within the home and community. Here he also supported those with complex physical disabilities such as multiple sclerosis and polio to achieve their chosen goals.

His other recent experience included working closely with families and those living with spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries to design a care platform to streamline their care between the family and support team within the home.

As a result of his experience, Nitin understands the complexities and day-to-day requirements of those requiring high care needs. He prides himself on his ability to empathise with people living with complex conditions or disabilities, having family members himself living with disabilities supported by the NDIS, and having directly collaborated with thousands of families and participants across Australia in co-designing a centralised care platform. He is passionate about a holistic OT approach and considering all aspects of a person’s life.

He’s an active individual, loves surfing, a bit of disco, being outdoors, and spending time with his mates and family.
