Shannon Edwards nee Kirk

NDIS Support Coordinator

Shannon has eight (8) years of experience working in the disability sector in a range of different roles. Shannon’s roles have included working in Aboriginal heath in the Wheatbelt and Midwest and supporting people experiencing amputations. She has worked extensively with individuals seeking SDA and/or SIL funding, achieving positive outcomes for her clients. Shannon has spent six (6) years working in both Support Coordination and Specialist Support Coordination roles. Prior to this, Shannon was employed as a support worker, supporting a variety of people, furthering her knowledge of different diagnoses and development of her individual support planning and acknowledgement that everyone is different and might need different supports.

Recently completing a Bachelor of Social Sciences majoring in Human Services, Shannon has an interest in further study to support individuals with intellectual disability diagnoses in the justice system. Shannon has recently been accepted into a Masters in Sexology, focusing on individuals with diagnoses and their sexual health.

Shannon is compassionate and a strong advocate for choice and control and basic human rights. Shannon actively encourages individuals to make their own decisions and strongly supports people’s rights to ‘dignity of risk’ and works hard to think creatively to obtain positive outcomes for her clients.

During 2023 Shannon worked as a Service Delivery Manager which provided a great experience and understanding in how different sides of the Disability sector work. Shannon maintains strong working relationships with other providers and key stakeholders.

Outside of work Shannon can be found having cuddles with her dogs, going to the gym, and spending time with her family.
